Charlie & Mary Kandziolka
Over the years, and specifically this series, we've seen a number of husband and wife duos have success at Borgata.
Today it's Charlie and Mary Kandziolka's (Flanders, NJ) turn as they play in their first event of the Borgata Spring Poker Open.
"We like the buy-in and structure," says Charlie, and "the 25k in chips," chimes in Mary.
Charlie says he's been playing at Borgata for years dating back to the former downstairs Poker Room and Mary has been learning the game the last four years.
"He's taught me everything he knows," smiles Mary, who made a Borgata Ladies Tournament final table in 2009, a fourth place finish for $1,400.
"It's never a problem," says Charlie about his poker schedule, "she says, 'where are we going?'"
While on the first break of the day both Kandziolka's have just slightly below the starting stack, but still have more than 100 big blinds in the deep structure.
Earlier this series Cathy and John Dever (Ephrata, PA) made a final table together in the $560 Black Chip Bounty (Event 6) for a combined $20,000.
"Ooooo, keep your fingers crossed," says Mary with great joy, "maybe we can make it."
Other Borgata poker power couples include Allen Chou and Patti Barsanti-Chou (Metuchen, NJ) along with the husband-wife team of Dan Voccia and Thi Dang (Westhampton, NY), who both picked up cashes in the series.
Today it's the Kandziolkas who are looking to make a deep run as Level 4 (100/200) is underway.
