Event 22 Recap

$200 + $30 + $100 Big Stack Black Chip Bounty NLH (Re-Entry)

Jeremy 'the Big Dog' Brown claimed his first Borgata Open Trophy here today.  He'll pick up $15,044 for the win to go with his 17 bounties.  Paulie 'the Roofer' Georges was the runner up, finishing second for $8,866.  Third place went to Robert 'Rizzi' Aronowitz along with $5,105.

Brown and Aronowitz were first and second in chips when the final table formed and Brown continued to accumulate chips while Aronowitz's stack dribbled away.  "I'm honestly getting smacked by the deck at this point" Brown said as he continued to accumulate chips and dispatch opponents.

Both Georges and Aronowitz had the best hands when their last chips went in against Brown, but he came out on top.  Georges is, you guessed it, a Roofer.  Aronowitz is a semi-professional poker player and tutors students in math and social studies when not playing poker.  Jeremy Brown has been living in Scottsdale, AZ, where he sells security systems, but has plans to move back to New Jersey.
The penultimate trophy event of the 2013 Borgata Spring Poker Open brought out 277 entrants, creating total buy-ins of $55,400.  The final 27 players earned a piece of the prize pool.  When the money bubble burst after dinner, the last two ladies playing in the event were the first to hit the payout desk.  Borgata regular Marguerite Spagnuolo (Staten Island, NY) finished 27th and Carol Lugashi (Livingston, NJ) finished 26th.  Both earned $484.

"It feels good to take one down.  Get a big lead and hold on to it" Brown said.  He's referring to his near miss in the 2009 WPT Borgata Poker Open Championship event where he made the televised final table.  When heads-up in that event, he had a 19:1 chip lead, but watched it dwindle away to his opponent and eventual winner Olivier Busquet.  Jeremy had to settle for second back then, along with $453,519.
