Event 2 Recap

$350 + $50 + $100 Black Chip Bounty NL (Re-Entry)

Olivier Correge is the winner of today's marathon black chip bounty tournament.  It was almost 6 am when the final hand was played and Correge had the win and $25,570.  He also collected 13 bounties during the 18 hour long event.

Anthony Thambynayagam was the runner-up, finishing second for $15,069, plus nine bounties.  Borgata frequent flier Mike 'Mad Dog' Shasho went out in third place, earning $8,676.

This one-day tournament began at 11 am Thursday with 269 entrants and amassed total buy-ins of 94,150.  The final 27 players earned a piece of the prize pool, but many more players earned bounties throughout the day.

Familiar faces in the field today included Antonio Payne, Pierre Deissler, Jim Morton, Dwyte Pilgrim, Tom Dobrilovic, Al Riccobono, Mo Farah, Bob Haavind, Steve Eyzerovich, Russ Dykshteyn, and Kevin Truong.

One notable Borgata regular who made the money in this event is Mark Wahba (Cleveland, OH).  He finished 14th for $1,005.  During the 2012 Spring Open, Wahba won the $400 Big Stack NL event ($32,267); finished 2nd in the Pot Limit Omaha event ($4,682); and cashed in three other events.  That earned him the top spot on the Spring Open Leaderboard and a $2,700 entry into the 2012 Borgata Summer Poker Open Championship.

With four tables remaining (36 players) Oliver Correge almost missed the money completely when his pocket Queens took a bad beat from a player holding pocket 8s (an 8 hit the board).  Correge held on, made the money, and eventually won it all.

He is originally from Paris, France, but for the last five years has lived here in New Jersey.  He is a plant manager at a plant that produces nail polish and enjoys playing poker when he has the time.  He was planning to play the Modified Shoot Out on Friday, but since this event ran so late, he may sleep through it.
