Event 14 Recap

$350 + $50 Seniors (50+) No Limit Hold'em

Arthur Gallinaro claimed his first ever Borgata Open series title tonight, after playing for over 15 hours.  "I was surprised" he said "when we were on dinner break, I thought this would be over about midnight".  As it turned out, the final hand wasn't played until after 3am.  Gallinaro collected $14,360 for the win.

During the 2012 BPO, Scott Connor made the final table of the Seniors event, finishing 5th for $4,828.  He improved on that with a second place finish here tonight, good for $7,899.  Connor is a retired County Commissioner and expects to be playing more during this series.  He really enjoyed playing with the Seniors today and said "It's a much nicer game".

Harvey Layton won this event two years ago during the 2011 Spring Open, good for $10,826.  He was hoping for a repeat victory here tonight, but came up short.  Layton busted out in 3rd place, earning $4,548.

141 Seniors entered this event, piling up $40,350 in total buy-ins.  The final 18 got a piece of the prize pool.  One of those was a Borgata tournament frequent flyer, Wooyang Lin, who made the final table, busting out 5th for $2,672.

Gallinaro is a retired home builder who now lives in Florida where he plays a lot of tournaments.  He returned here to manage some properties he still owns and managed to squeeze in this event.  "I was keeping it small.  No one was betting." he commented.  "This [Seniors event] is a different game than what I play in Florida".

One very important senior who would normally play this event was missing today.  Mike 'Little Man' Sica (N Brunswick, NJ) was hospitalized with chest pains yesterday and has been diagnosed with lung cancer.  His presence was missed terribly here today and everyone's thoughts and prayers are with him.
